$5500. USD. This carved maple masterpiece by Joe McBrine Jr. will be on view in our Gallery in 2019. It is unbelievably REAL, carving of the highest caliber. The antlers on a hollow deer skull look as if just found on a walk through the fall woods. Every leaf, mushroom, and acorn is hand carved wood.

$5500. USD

Notes about the artist:

Wood Carver Extraordinaire!

The extraordinary detail in Joe's work has earned him blue ribbons in both Maine and Canadian competitions. His ability to render details comes from first hand knowledge of Maine wildlife, much of it gained in his career as a Maine warden. His fine craftsmanship skills are a natural gift which he has honed over a lifetime of experience.  Joe's lovely and exquisitely carved and painted wood feather necklaces (scroll down to see them) attract our customers to buy as gifts for others and keepsakes for themselves.

WHALES:

In addition to his polished sculptures of whales in 3-dimension, Joe creates  wall mounts (shown below) which have the character of folk art and are joyfull to behold. Average length is 26".

Each piece is signed and numbered by the artist on the back where a hanging device is secured.

The carved wall mounts are made of weathered wood which Joe selects for its natural appeal. The teeth, and occasionally, a fin are often added to Joe's pieces which distinguish his work from run-of-the-mill mass produced silhouettes. The two whales shown here are carved from fish ladder wood...wood that has withstood decades of racing river currents, found by Joe in his explorations along rivers and sea where he is permitted to scavenge.  $85-$165. USD

SALMON COMMISSIONS

The Atlantic Salmon shown above is one of Joe's sought-after commissions. He crafts other fish species too as well as other wild life as time permits.   Contact us if you wish to

Joe's BROOK TROUT still life scupture was sold through our Gallery a few years ago...it is magnificent and located out of state in the keep of an expert fly fisherman who builds prize winning bamboo rods.

Carved & Painted Wood Feathers:

ABOVE: This mounted 3 dimensional whale sculpture by wood carver extraordinaire, Joe McBrine, Jr., has been sold. His carved, painted, and mounted puffins have been sold also. All of his smooth whale flukes we first exhibited a few years ago have been sold. Stop by when you are in the area to see work that cannot be seen anywhere else! There is a Great Blue Heron that may be for sale one day and it is magnificent. The heron is depicted without an extended neck. Rather, the heron is waiting peacefully with a beautifully configured neck in more of an S-shape than at full extension. Painted with matte detailing, the piece is stunning. We can only make inquiries about it to see if it is available for sale. Joe's wife and family are especially attached to it.
